About the Caribbean Book Network
Caribbean Book Network established in September 2023 is an online store and distributor for publisher Sene Press. This online presence will focus on books published and written by Caribbean authors but will also showcase books and authors we think important and relevant to Caribbean issues and readers. We plan also to provide publications that give the Caribbean a perspective of the world not seen in mainstream sources and to give the world a perspective of the Caribbean not seen in tourist brochures and mainstream sources of information.
Caribbean Book Network online presence is a continuation of the work in the Virtual World of husband-and-wife team of Fanta and Ako Mutota owners of the former African Spectrum Bookstore, which was established in 1993 and located at 1295 Brockett Road in Clarkston Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The African Spectrum Bookstore was a community mainstay for a decade plus, until it relocated to South DeKalb Mall and operated together with Oasis Bookstore.
These institutions acquired a reputation for community events that featured prominent African- American, African, and Caribbean writers. There were several other activities that provided information and consciousness raising to the community through discussions, films, art events, musical events, and other activities.
The online presence will primarily focus on book sales and book distribution of Caribbean Writers in the Caribbean, North America and elsewhere. A primary objective is to become a platform for Caribbean writers to have an indigenous online space for their work and to also provide for those interested in the Caribbean, a space to view our literature and writers and to understand our people and our issues.
Through Caribbean Book Network we hope to showcase Caribbean literature and writers to the Caribbean and beyond. Welcome to Caribbean Book Network. We hope to have your support.
